Hello, my name is Dr. Fatima Vafai and I would like to personally introduce myself… I was born in the USA and moved overseas with my family as a child. I graduated among the top of my class from Isfahan Dental University. After practicing dentistry for a few years post graduation, I moved back to the USA. Upon meeting all requirements, I was certified by the Dental Board of California. Prior to establishing my practice, I gained further experience in Family and Cosmetic Dentistry through having had the privilege of associating with several of the best dentists in the bay area. Sincere Smiles was built from the ground up in July of 2010. I love cosmetic dentistry and giving my patients a happy, healthy smile. We do all aspects of dentistry from exams, cleanings, fillings, root canals, etc, but we also focus on function and esthetics combined; therefore, teeth whitening, Invisalign and implants are a big part of our practice. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two children and life partner. I am a thrill seeker and enjoy thrilling experiences. I also enjoy traveling and exploring new things.

What can I eat or avoid eating to reduce plaque?
Unfortunately, plaque and tartar buildup is unavoidable. Plaque forms after 24 hours, and all foods create plaque, but avoiding sugar and carbs can reduce it. Plaque doesn’t stick permanently until 48-72 hours, but if you brush two times a day and floss daily, plaque usually comes off. However depending on your technique, it is inevitable to not collect any plaque or tartar which is why we recommend you get your dental checkup and cleanings twice a year. Thank You, Rachel READ MORE
