The best way to know the signs, symptoms and most importantly - PREVENTION of gum disease is to have regular 6 month check-ups at your trusted family dental office. A dentist or hygienist has the tools to screen and ensure the health of all of the supporting tissues in your mouth. The first sign of gum disease (gingivitis) is red, bleeding gums. What is a dry socket?
A dry socket occurs when the blood clot comes out of a socket from a recently extracted tooth. Air is exposed directly to the bone and is very painful. Bleeding within the socket needs to be stimulated to create a new blood clot to form to allow the site to heal quicker.
