He then trained and obtained ophthalmology post graduate education from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts; as well as an ophthalmology residency at St. Luke's Hospital Center in New York City. He completed a fellowship in ophthalmology at the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Salud and his wife, Violeta, a financial advisor of 30 years and their son Irwin reside in Lake Wales, Florida for 41 years. They also have a daughter Aileen, a lawyer; son Christopher, a sports and family medicine physician; and son Jonathan, who is finishing medical school and will soon be pursuing residency in internal medicine at Emory University; and five grandchildren.
