  • Can certain food prevent cancer?

The Mediterranean diet had been found helpful in preventing recurrence of colon cancer and breast cancer, provided that you already had these cancers. Otherwise, there are no specific foods with convincing evidence to uniformly prevent cancers. READ MORE

  • Why did my radiation therapy cause my creatinine to fluctuate?

Elevated creatinine can have many explanations. It is most commonly seen with dehydration but kidney dysfunction can also be a cause. Radiation, unless directed at the kidneys or caused dehydration, generally does not result in increase creatinine. READ MORE

  • How does blood cancer happen?

Most leukemias are not hereditary. It is not preventable by, for instance, diet or exercise. Radiation exposure is one potential cause of leukemias but the exact cause is rarely found. Sorry. READ MORE

  • Breast cancer recurrence

Recurrence of breast cancer depends on many factors such as tumor size, surgical margins, and type of treatment after surgery. I'm afraid it is hard to be precise about recurrence without additional information. Both a history of dcis and breast cancer suggests an increase risk of recurrence above those without a history of either, additional information is needed for more accurate prognostication. • For a breast cancer case, is a surgery done first or is the chemotherapy started first?

There is no distinct benefit of receiving chemotherapy before surgery as opposed to chemotherapy after surgery. Chemotherapy before surgery will make the tumor more easily resectable(assuming that the tumor responds to chemotherapy). This is reserved for women who want breast sparing surgery (not a mastectomy). Chemotherapy before surgery can afford this reduction in the tumor, but has no different outcome when compared to chemotherapy given after surgery. READ MORE
