Get to know Pain Management Specialist and Anesthesiologist Dr. Mary K. Craddock, who serves patients throughout the State of Maryland.

A Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiologists, Dr. Craddock is a board-certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist who has been in private practice for over 20 years. She is also affiliated with Friendship Ambulatory Surgery Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland, as well as holds hospital privileges at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. 

With a strive to stay current on the latest advancements in interventional pain management and anesthesia, the doctor is dual board-certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology. 

Additionally, she is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the District of Columbia Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Association, the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia, and the Society for Pain Practice Management.

In the early days of her academic career, Dr. Craddock received her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College in 1971. She then went on to complete her residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, followed by her residency in anesthesiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Pain management, pain medicine, pain control or algiatry, is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. A pain management specialist is a doctor who specializes in pain medicine, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of pain.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. Anesthesiologists are physicians specializing in perioperative care, the development of anesthetic plans, and the administration of anesthetics.

Along with her continuous accomplishments in her field, Dr. Craddock lectures locally, regionally, and nationally. She is the co-author of four publications and a former faculty member of the Georgetown University School of Medicine. She owes her success to hard work, dedication to the field and the community she serves, and good luck.

Outside of the office, she enjoys golfing and skiing.
