  • Loose tooth

You should see an endodontist for an evaluation. The positioning of teeth is separate from the nerve and blood vessels within the tooth. Trauma compromises them. Once trauma occurs, the teeth may become irreversibly inflamed and eventually necrose. The tooth may require a root canal. READ MORE

  • I am getting abscesses in my infected tooth. How do I treat them?

Abscessed teeth require endodontic therapy if there is sufficient healthy tooth structure to maintain the tooth. Otherwise, the tooth may need to be extracted if there is extensive decay present. I recommend elimination of the bacteria within the tooth be eliminated prior to completion of the root canal. Abscessed teeth contain bacteria and can only be eliminated by dressing them with medication that is antibacterial. Single visit root canals on abscessed teeth only serve to trap bacteria within the small developmental pores of the tooth. Most endodontist perform all root canals in a single visit regardless of the vitality and bacterial presence within the tooth. These cases are always multiple visits (usually 2 as it depends on the size of the infection). We want to see elimination of the symptoms, elimination of the bacteria and bone healing prior to completion of your root canal to verify that our treatment. is working. READ MORE

  • What causes swelling in the gums?

You could have an infection present. It could be from a periodontal (around the tooth) source or an endodontic source (within the tooth). You should have your general dentist or an endodontist evaluate it. If you would like us to evaluate it. please let us know: READ MORE

  • My tooth infection keeps coming back. Can it signify something more serious?

Sometimes bacteria is trapped inside the tooth when a root canal is performed. These require retreatment which includes placement of medicine within the tooth to eliminate the bacterial presence. Necrotic teeth should not be completed in a single visit IMHO. Oral antibiotics WILL NOT eliminate the source of your problem which is the bacteria present within your tooth. Oral antibiotics can only be delivered via your blood vessels. Necrotic/ dead/ teeth with root canals are dead and do not have blood vessels. You need to have an endodontist evaluate it. Please let us know if you would like us to evaluateit. READ MORE

  • I had a root canal and the area still hurts. Is something wrong?

Yes, present to the endodontist that performed the root canal. READ MORE

  • My gum is swollen but only in the back of my mouth. What could this be?

It could result from a necrotic tooth. You should have your dentist or an endodontist evaluate it. These can be quite serious if not treated. READ MORE

  • Pain after a filling?

It depends on the type of pain. If there is lingering pain with hot/ cold, biting sensitivity or radiating pain then you might need a root canal. If the pain continues to increase you may need additional treatment. However, you should return to your dentist for an evaluation. Please let us know if we can help: 7202217774. • Can an infected tooth spread the infection to the other teeth as well?

I can't give you definitive diagnosis without evaluating you. Antibiotics are delivered via blood vessels and necrotic/ dead teeth no longer possess viable blood vessels. Therefore, the antibiotic is only delivered to the surrounding tissue, but not to the source of the infection which is in the tooth. Root canal therapy is recommended as soon as possible. Antibiotics are only a temporary fix. Let us know if we can help. 7202217774 READ MORE
