Ervin Daniel DeLoach, MD, FACS, is a plastic surgeon with a stupendous body of work built over 34 years in practice. He works at Savannah Plastic Surgery with its main office in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. DeLoach and Dr. Lawrence E. Ruf established Savannah Plastic Surgery in 1980 and it now includes 8 board certified plastic surgeons, which makes it one of the largest plastic surgery groups in the Southeast. Also on staff at Memorial Health University Medical Center and Candler General Hospital, Dr. DeLoach is a specialist in Facial Reconstruction, Cosmetic Surgery, and Plastic Surgery. He graduated in 1973 from the Medical College of Georgia and then interned in surgery at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Furthermore, Dr. DeLoach is fellowship-trained in plastic surgery at the University of Tennessee Clinical Education Center and certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. An inductee of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, he remains active in his challenging and ever-changing specialty through his membership with the American Medical Association, Medical Association of Georgia, Medical Association of Georgia, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Georgia Society of Plastic Surgeons. A published author of more than 12 papers, he is also the recipient of the Regents Hall of Fame Award from University System of Georgia (2012) and the Joseph Bailey Distinguished Service Award from the Medical Association of Georgia (2011).

Will my diabetes hinder my lip surgery?
It’s possible, but unlikely. As you know, patients with diabetes are more prone to infections. The blood supply to the lip is so good that your chances are decreased by its location. READ MORE
How do I prepare my body before undergoing liposuction?
First, be sure that your nutritionally healthy. Your body will need the correct vitamins and minerals to heal. Then, decrease your risk of bleeding by stopping aspirin containing meds. You can also decrease your risk of infection by taking a shower with surgical soap the evening before and the morning of surgery. Most of the time, yes. It is very important that you explain to your Plastic Surgeon exactly what your goals for the surgery are. If both of you have the same goals, the chances of success are increased. Communication is the key. READ MORE
What should I do to prevent an infection after plastic surgery?
The infection rate following nasal surgery is low. Most patients get prepped or intraop antibiotics usually followed by postoperative antibiotics. Keeping your incision clean and using topical antibiotics can also help lower your risk. Since each surgery is unique, ask your surgeon what additional measures you can take. READ MORE
What are the risk factor associated with a plastic surgery?
Most common risk factors are bleeding, scaring, infection and implant asymmetry. Ask your surgeon if you have special risk factors. Fortunately overall the risk of each of these is low and reoperation is lower yet. READ MORE
Is RF or laser technology helpful in getting rid of accident scars?
Laser and RF can lessen the appearance of the scar but not completely remove it. Many factors such as skin type, skin pigment, thickness of the scar, location and direction of scar all will have an influence on the outcome. Usually a scar can be minimized with correct treatment and time. READ MORE
What is the aftercare required after plastic surgery to treat a scar?
The aftercare will totally be determined by the type of treatment that you have. Sutures are different than lasers, injections, topical cream, and massage. So, the type of treatment determines how the care will be done. READ MORE
Lots of stretch marks. What can I do?
Time and moisturizers will help some. An abdominoplasty is the most common treatment. If you plan more children, wait until you’ve had all your babies. The location of the stretch marks will also play a role in determining how large the skin resection will need to be. READ MORE
Can makeup done on a plastic surgery area cause reactions?
Yes it can. Check with your surgeon first for advice. Start with a hypoallergenic applied only to a tiny area to see how your skin reacts first. READ MORE
How safe is a face contouring treatment?
Facial contouring can be done with a few modalities like filler injections, liposuction, and face lifting, to name a few. Be sure your treatment is administered by an appropriately trained physician like a plastic surgeon. There are many “clinics" where such procedures are done by untrained physicians or even non physicians. Can I change my skin color with plastic surgery?
Topical skin bleaching creams, chemical peels, and LASER resurfacing can all change your skin pigmentation. Often, it is a lighter shade, but not always. Increased pigmentation can also happen, though not often. Usually, we recommend starting out with a less aggressive treatment, like bleaching creams, as that alone is often all that is needed. The answer really depends on what type of procedure she wants done, as each one has it’s own unique set of complications. Those for a facelift are different from those for a rhinoplasty. Usually, we can make the scars better, but we can’t erase them. Scar revision, LASER, and dermabrasion are some of the most common surgical tools used. Nonsurgical options can include steroid injection or topical steroid cream, bleaching cream, silicone sheeting, and more. READ MORE
Can liposuction work for diabetic patients?

My daughter is 4 years old and has burnt her hand by dropping hot water. Is skin grafting recommended for her considering age?
Most hot water burns are second degree and dont require a skin graft. A few do require it but your daughter needs to be seen by a Plastic Surgeon to determine if she needs a skin graft or not. READ MORE
Is liposuction a permanent treatment?
Liposuction permanently removes some your fat cells. After your complete puberty, your body does not increase the number of fat cells you have. As you loose and gain weight, your existing fat cells shrink and enlarge in size. Liposuction surgery permanently removes some of those cells to contour your body. Can plastic surgery remove a birthmark?
Usually, yes, it can help. The size, location, depth and cell type all go into the evaluation of how much improvement can be achieved. Can plastic surgery put one at a risk of nerve damage?
The majority of the time, nerve injury is not an issue. Most of the cases where the nerve is at risk is when the nerve does not exit in the "normal" or expected location. This is known as an anatomic variant and does put the nerve at risk for injury. Anatomic variations occur in 2-3% of cases, but actual nerve injury is less than that. READ MORE
