A 1977 graduate of Chittagong Medical College in Bangladesh, Dr. Hoque relocated to the United States to further his training. Once there, he performed his residency in anesthesiology at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in New York.

With over four decades of experience in his field, the doctor is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA). Founded in 1847 and incorporated in 1897, the AMA is the largest association of physicians—both MDs and DOs—and medical students in the United States. Its mission is “to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.”

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Hoque enjoys playing soccer.
