Can chiropractic care worsen a herniated disk?
A herniated disk is not usually worsened by chiropractic care but utilizing the wrong technique may aggravate it and cause an acute flare up of symptoms. Inform your treating physician about your condition and the location and if possible bring any images and the report with you on your first visit for evaluation. This will ensure that the treating chiropractor utilizes the best technique and treatment plan for your condition. READ MORE
How long does it take for a herniated disc to reabsorb?
There is evidence that conservative chiropractic care can help with the re-absorption of a herniated disc. In my experience this tends to be with more minor levels or herniation, but as a general rule the more severe the herniation the longer the recovery time. The process can take months to years depending on severity of disc, limiting stressors/aggravations on disc, and overall health and wellness of patient. READ MORE
Why does my back feel like it needs to be cracked?
Usually the sensation of needing to crack your back comes from some type of bio-mechanical dysfunction that is occurring throughout that specific area or an area that influences that region. Proper correction of that dysfunction and stability therapy of that region is needed to minimize or eliminate that sensation. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor damage your neck?
There is always that possibility where any procedure can have a negative effect. Usually a patient can get sore post adjustment/manipulation because their muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints where treatment occurred have not moved in that manor. A potential sprain/strain can occur as well; if the patient tried to resist or tightened up while the adjustment/manipulation took place or if the doctor used too much force. Unfortunately there is no procedure out there without it's potential risks. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor fix a herniated disc?
A chiropractor can not "fix" your herniated disc, but the right technique and the right type of rehab can help diminish the symptoms typically associated with a disc herniation. Proper spine mobility, stability and biomechanics can play a big roll in limiting the pain and symptoms associated with disc herniations. READ MORE

When should I see a chiropractor for back pain?
I believe seeing a chiropractor is best in maintaining your overall health and mobility. Once you have pain there has been much dysfunction occurring. How do you fix neck kyphosis?
Fixing neck kyphosis requires cervical manipulation, cervical traction, cervical stretching and strengthening exercises. It usually starts gentle and builds in intensity depending on neck tolerance. It is uncomfortable due to having to stretch some cervical ligaments. It also requires frequent visits in the beginning of your treatment plan to assure your ligaments respond in the correct manner. What exercises treat kyphosis?
Throughout your spine you have 2 normal kyphotic curves (thoracic region and sacral region) and 2 normal lordotic curves (cervical region and lumbar region). If you have developed a kyphotic curve in what should be a lordotic curve then you need chiropractic manipulation, traction, stretching and strengthening exercises that will be be uncomfortable in the beginning as your ligaments start to elongate. Frequent treatments are needed in the beginning to make sure the proper results are being achieved. If you have an increase kyphosis in your thoracic region (hyperkyphosis) this one is really tough to correct. You should be put on a program that helps strengthen you midback (thoracic muscles) and focuses more on posture. Chiropractic manipulation will help with your discomforts and pains associated with hyperkyphosis. READ MORE
