William C. Friend, MD, FAPA, FRCP(C), maintains a position at the Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Canada?s first province-wide, fully integrated health system. Dr. Friend specializes in forensic and geriatric psychiatry, with nearly three decades of experience in the field. As a forensic psychiatrist, Dr. Friend provides services to a court of law to facilitate the adjudicative process and provides treatment like medications and psychotherapy to criminals. He graduated in 1983 from McGill University and went on to complete post graduate training in Washington University in St. Louis. Involved in medical research, Dr. Friend attended a fellowship program with the Medical Research Council of Canada Centennial. With many published articles, Dr. Friend is Coard certified in his field of specialty, as well as acting as an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta in his spare time.
