    Hi, If your son has a strept sore throat, penicillins is a category of medication that can be used to treat this infection. If the child is allergic to this medication there are other categories of antibiotic which can be used. This is a safe and effective way to treat this infection.     A BMI of 26 is considered overweight, but can be reduced by diet and exercise alone over a period of weeks. This weight loss can be done without taking "weight loss pills". A suggestion would be to consult with a dietitian and a exercise coach who will be more than willing to assist you. All medications have some side effects and hence the question of safety arises.     Your concern is quite common among parents and care givers. I will assume you have had this child taken to the paediatrician who has said he is doing well. For most part children have a high rate of metabolism and are still in a growth phase. They will grow slim and this can be quite normal and healthy. He will grow vertical until age 17 /18 years then after this he will be putting on weight or "go side ways".     Hi. I do hope you have been seen for your hyperactive thyroid condition as this increased thyroxine level will directly affect your unborn child during the pregnancy. Control will require medical management in most cases. Kindly see your obstetrician / internal physician and let him/her deal with this matter for the duration of your pregnancy.     This is certainly a very common dilemma and hard-to-answer question that has its roots buried in the physical mental and spiritual components of one's life. Let's assume that there is no physical or medical illnesses that your doctor has discovered at your last medical examination less than 3 months ago (35 years old). You did not mention how many children were included in this relationship and no mention of the time spent doing the doing housework and getting on with your career. Is there a significant other?     Having Diabetes will require that your blood glucose levels be checked at certain times of the day. A fasting blood sugar and 2 hrs. post postprandial sugar test is important. This postprandial test can be 2 hrs after the end of eating a breakfast lunch or dinner (supper). This will give a good indication to the Dr. how the blood sugar levels are doing with your meals and hence what to prescribe and how much.     You mentioned high cholesterol as being the reason for the choice of oil that is been used. High Cholesterol can be from external sources (food) and from internal source (genetically determined by and produced by our own bodies). Some external sources are red meat, lobsters, and fatty meats including chicken skin. Most plant based foods has no cholesterol and has good fat which will help your body just as exercise will do. Your choice of Olive and Vegetable oil on occasion is good but tell your Dr. to help you lower your cholesterol levels as there are medications which will do so.     It would have been good to know the specific protein deficiency. The next question is why do you have a protein deficiency? Is it because there is a lack of intake or your body is not making this particular protein or you are losing this protein from your body? You have not mentioned any medical condition or illnesses that would create this scenario. Assuming you are "normal" otherwise, then the sources of protein can be had from suppliments in powder, liquid or solid forms and foods that we eat.     If this was something recent then it might be related to the negative pressure created by blowing the nose on the lining of the sinus cavities or the nasopharyngeal lining. It seem that you have a case of allergies or a viral/ bacterial infection along with the allergy. It would be good to have this investigated. A nasal swab , CT brain and sinus cavities.     Doctor Michael James and his staff has an excellent track record for great customer service. I find that Doctor James is easy to talk with and he simplifies his diagnosis in a language that is relatable. His staff is great with kids, the elderly; for me this is admirable.
