  • Is CT scan accurate for liver disease?

A CT (computed tomography) scan is a valuable imaging tool that can provide detailed cross-sectional images of the body, including the liver. It is commonly used to evaluate the liver for various conditions, including liver disease. However, the accuracy of a CT scan in diagnosing liver disease depends on the specific type of liver disease and the information needed. CT scans are good at detecting structural abnormalities in the liver, such as tumors, cysts, and areas of inflammation or scarring. They can also help identify the size and shape of the liver and detect abnormalities in the blood vessels that supply the liver. However, CT scans may not be as sensitive as other imaging modalities, such as MRI or ultrasound, in detecting certain liver diseases, especially in the early stages. For best care, you want to ask your physician for the best recommendations. READ MORE

As radiologists our exposure to radiation is greater than the general public, however, still within the safe limits to practice medicine. I am a radiologist myself and it is also our responsibility to take extra precautions when exposed during procedures. READ MORE

  • Can MS be confirmed through an MRI scan?

MS can be confirmed by several different ways. First make an appointment to see a neurologist who is an expert in diagnosing and managing MS. MRI is one of the test that may be used to diagnose MS. There is a specific disease pattern or appearance on MRI. Additional tests should be used in combination, such as a spinal tap. The sooner your father is diagnosed the earlier his care and management can begin. All the best. READ MORE
