What are the symptoms of an enlarged ovary?
Not all enlargements could be known by a patient. Pressure or pain and rarely pain with intercourse could be some symptoms with an enlarged ovary. But many people have enlarged ovaries and never know until the lesion is 6-7 cm in size. Few people report difficulty with intestinal function, but it’s possible. If you have an endometrioma, you may have signs of endometriosis such as painful menses and pain w/sex. Let your doctor know if there is a family history of ovarian cancer and s/he may offer you a blood test to see if you are at increased risk. Moreover, ultrasounds also can be helpful. READ MORE

I had unprotected sex with my fiance. How can I make sure there is no pregnancy?
Go now to the pharmacy and request emergency progesterone contraception. You can only do this up to 5 days after unprotected sex. Sometimes a doctor can insert a copper IUD, but you need to go in soon if you want long-term (10 years) protection against pregnancy. Good luck! READ MORE
Even after 45 days of my delivery I am continuing to bleed heavily. Could there be a problem?
I would see a doctor. Rarely, placenta could have maintained attachment inside the uterus. Also, you could have achieved another pregnancy and could be having a miscarriage. Another option is that you could be having an unusually heavy first cycle, but bleeding heavily for more than a week is not usually a normal condition. If you soak through more than one maxi pad per hour, we believe that is too much, clinically. Call your doctor for evaluation. He/she may need some bloodworm or labs and an ultrasound of the uterus to see what’s going on. Molar pregnancy is unusual, but does occur very rarely. Ask your ob/gyn. Dr. Meshri READ MORE
What is the meaning of having negative T-scores?
I have not heard of a T score as it relates to fertility. I am not a reproductive endocrinology expert. I believe Anti mullerian hormone and Follicle stimulating hormone and serum progesterone are components of fertility tests. I have not heard of a negative T score. Sincerely, Dr. Meshri READ MORE
How much Colace can I take while pregnant?
You should not use a laxative more than 2-4 tabs per. Day. It's less about the baby which should be done and more about your colonic health and motility as the growing expanding uterus limits your intestines ability to function easily. If you eat meat regularly avoid IRON in your prenatal vitamin if possible or find a prenatal vitamin that has less iron than the one you now use. Drink more juices and water but as long as you do not have pregnancy diabetes with high blood sugar. Massage will increase the motility and Functionality of your inner organs including the colon. Good luck and thanks for writing! READ MORE
Did my dental x-rays harm my baby? (first trimester)
Highly unlikely. Such a quick and minimal dose of radiation to an area of your body not anywhere near your fetus would have negligible chances of causing teratogenicity. Rest assured. Eat well. Avoid harsh chemicals. Keep all your appointments. Relax. Get your first and second trimester sonogram as directed by your obstetrician. Be well. Avoid stress at ALL costs. Good wishes and blessings all over your baby. Dr. Meshri READ MORE
