Includes treatment of hernias (both minimally invasive and open), breast surgery for benign and malignant disease, gallbladder surgery (minimally invasive), Gastrointestinal surgery for benign and malignant disease (both minimally invasive and open), thyroid surgery (both minimally invasive and traditional), and trauma.
Dr. Duncan's Trauma Medical Co-Director role at the Ventura County Medical Center, is to enable the level II trauma center to function according to the Practices and Principles of the American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma.
His roles also include instructor and director of Advanced Trauma Life Support courses, as well as instructor of Rural Development Trauma course.
Dr. Duncan's Medical Co-Director role at Anacapa Surgical Associates, is to oversee adequate functioning of the following county clinics: General Surgery, Thoracic, ENT, Urology, Plastic, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Bariatrics, Dermatology, Neurology, and Physiatry.
In an aim to decrease recidivism secondary to gang related trauma, a Violence Intervention Program: Emergency Entry to Exit (EEE) was founded by Dr. Duncan, involving a multidisciplinary approach to trauma - beginning with bedside interventions.
In response to elderly falls in our county, a multidisciplinary Elderly Fall Prevention Coalition was founded by him, encompassing Pre-Hospital, Hospital, and Post-Hospital community organizations. This coalition created a program aimed at curbing preventable falls, by linking services of involved groups.
As participant of (for three years) and Co-chair of the Injury and Violence Prevention committee of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma outreach event, a high school located in the state of the annual scientific meeting has been the target of multidisciplinary distracted driving efforts.
He is also one of the board of directors of the Artists for Trauma 501c3 organizatiion, dedicated to enriching the lives of both civilian and military trauma survivors by pairing recovery patients with established artists from various disciplines.
