It depends on what information you are seeking, and what is discovered in the study. if kidney function is to be evaluated, the contrast will be administered, lengthening the exam time. If only assessing for the presence of stones, the study time is negligent. If some unexpected non-renal pathology is discovered, the Dr. and technician may extend the time of the exam.
