Thereafter, he went on to receive his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine – New York State/American Program in Tel Aviv, Israel. He spent time doing research in minimally invasive surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, and completed his residency in general surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, Dr. Zurkovsky is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

Licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey, he is affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, the Center for Robotic Surgery at Ocean Medical Center, and Community Medical Center. 

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.
