Dr. Alexis Perera graduated with his Medical Degree in 1993 from the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas De La Habana in Cuba. Following his graduation, Dr. Perera completed his Pediatric residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. He holds board certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, and keeps up to date in his field by maintaining a professional membership with the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Alexis Perera is a highly-trained and qualified Emergency Medicine Physician with 23 years of experience in his field and an extensive expertise in all facets of his work, especially pediatric urgent care. Dr. Alexis Perera is currently serving patients within Baptist Health Urgent Care in Miami, Florida, and is also affiliated with Baptist Hospital of Miami. Emergency Medicine is the branch of medicine concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. As first-line providers, emergency physicians manage patients of all ages with undifferentiated ailments of all types. They are primarily responsible for initiating resuscitation and stabilization and beginning investigations and interventions to diagnose and treat illnesses in the acute phase. Emergency physicians generally practice in hospital emergency departments, pre-hospital settings via emergency medical services, and intensive care units, but may also work in primary care settings such as urgent care clinics. Emergency physicians may subspecialize in disaster medicine, medical toxicology, ultrasonography, critical care medicine, hyperbaric medicine, sports medicine, palliative care, or aerospace medicine.
