He attended Drexel University College of Medicine where he graduated with honors and was inducted into the most esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. For his residency in dermatology, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he graduated as Chief Resident. Thereafter, he performed an extra year of training in a highly-coveted fellowship with Leonard H. Goldberg at Methodist Hospital/Weill Medical College of Cornell University in Houston, Texas. This extra year of training was spent honing his skills in Mohs micrographic surgery, a tissue-sparing skin cancer removal, and facial reconstruction procedure, as well as cosmetic dermatology procedures. Dr. Awadalla holds two board certifications in dermatology and in micrographic dermatologic surgery which are granted by the American Board of Dermatology, a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology. As a testament to his success, he attained fellowship status with the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Active in research, Dr. Awadalla has authored numerous articles in the field of dermatology, as well as seven books in the Skincredible series.
