A Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Rebecca S. Hierholzer, MD is a board-certified emergency medicine physician currently serving her patients at HCA Midwest Health located in Kansas City, Missouri. To begin her career, Dr. Hierholzer earned her combined BA/MD degree at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Medicine. She then completed her internship and residency in emergency medicine at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. From there, she earned her Master’s of Business Administration in Health Care from the American Intercontinental University. Licensed in the State of Missouri and the State of Kansas, Dr. Hierholzer is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. Additionally, she is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. In addition to serving her patients at HCA Midwest Health, Dr. Hierholzer is affiliated with Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Furthermore, Dr. Hierholzer is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of COVERSA – Collection of Victim Evidence Regarding Sexual Assault. COVERSA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality, compassionate post sexual assault patient care. Dr. Hierholzer is also an Emergency Physician at Morningstar Emergency Physicians of Team Health, St. Francis Health Center. The youngest child, Dr. Hierholzer learned the power of education and service to the community from her parents. She chose a career that would involve a great deal of education that would allow her to provide service to the community in which she lives. To remain up to date in her field, Dr. Hierholzer is a professional member of the the National Association of Professional Women, the Kansas City Coalition Against Human Trafficking, the International Association of Forensic Nurses, the Missouri State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Emergency Physicians. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City. As a testament to her success, Dr. Hierholzer was recognized for her professional accomplishments by the National Association of Professional Women, which named her “Woman of the Year” in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, Dr. Hierholzer was named Emergency Physician of the Year in 2010 by the Missouri Emergency Nurses Association.
