Get to know Internist Dr. Shemsu Balker, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

A seasoned internist, Dr. Balker is affiliated with US Clinics, working with patients at their offices in Carrollton and Farmers Branch, Texas. He has been practicing internal medicine for the last 17 years.

US Clinics specializes in the delivery of personalized, comprehensive, and up-to-date primary care and specialty care to the whole family.

Born and raised in Ethiopia, Dr. Balker received his medical degree from Jimma University College of Public Health and Medical Sciences. After relocating to the United States in 1989, he passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination steps 1, 2 and 3, and was certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. He then went on to complete his internship at St. Vincent Medical Center of New York Medical College, and his residency in internal medicine at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists.
