Most likely it will just get larger. They do not heal on their own. Worst case scenario, it becomes incarcerated and causes a bowel obstruction requiring emergency surgery. READ MORE

Minimally invasive hurts less but all hernia repair is painful. READ MORE
How is abdominal hernia surgery performed?
Depends on the size and the location of the hernia. I prefer a minimally invasive robotic approach. READ MORE

A very difficult situation and I’m sorry for what you’re going through. If a small bowel series is normal, I’d consider looking into a celiac plexus block. Dissection around these nodes can sometimes cause chronic upper abdominal pain that a block may relieve. It’s hard to say with any certainty but it’s worth looking into. READ MORE
What are the side effects of having your gallbladder removed?
Often there are very few side effects. Most of my patients feel significantly better afterwards. On rare occasions people suffer diarrhea after eating. This can be helped with questran. READ MORE

Having had one myself, it’s quite painful. It gets better fairly quickly though. READ MORE

Rate complication after appendectomy. I’d need to see more studies before giving a complete answer READ MORE
Why did my cyst rupture 8 months after cyst removal?
Recurrence is a possible complication of cyst removal. READ MORE
How common is chronic pain after inguinal hernia surgery?
In my experience it is quite rare. If you are experiencing pain prior to surgery you are more likely to have pain afterwards. READ MORE

Yes. Please see your surgeon for evaluation. READ MORE
What happens if I don't have surgery for my hernia?
Depends on the hernia. They don’t go away and only get bigger, so better to have it fixed while it’s small. READ MORE
What approach is better for prostatectomy?
Given the option, I’d go robotic. If your surgeon doesn’t perform robotic prostates find one that does. READ MORE
What are the treatment options for inguinal hernias?
I would recommend a minimally invasive approach. Either robotic or laparoscopic. READ MORE
I have a painful bump on my wrist. Should I get it removed surgically?
If it has a negative effect on your activities of daily living, then yes. READ MORE

If it’s the abdominal wall, there are very few side effects. READ MORE
My husband has had a relapse of anal fissures. Would he require another surgery?
Consider psyllium husk fiber. Must be taken daily like brushing your teeth. If that does not alleviate the problem I would seek out a colonoscopy. READ MORE
