Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Orrin Ailloni-Charas, who serves patients in California. Dr. Ailloni-Charas is a well-recognized clinician, scientist, educator, and investor. For his work at RedCrow, he draws on his experience of 25 years in the clinical practice of anesthesia at top medical institutions, as well as lessons learned as an investment leader in the early and mid-stage healthcare vertical. Before assuming his current position, Dr. Ailloni-Charas served as the Chief Financial Officer of a large private anesthesia practice in San Francisco from 2003 until 2016. He also held several consulting positions with digital health and biopharma companies, including Pacira, HealthTap, and AngelMD. An honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he earned his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine. Thereafter, he completed his internship at NYU Langone Medical Center, followed by his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University. The doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), whose mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure and temperature, anesthesiologists also measure the patient’s respiration.
