Get to know Neurologist Dr. Steven Trobiani, who serves patients in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
Dr. Trobiani, a renowned neurologist, has spent the past three decades evaluating and managing headache and back pain. He owns and operates his own private neurology practice – Northstar Pain Care & Neurological Clinic – in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
There, he takes a patient-oriented approach to pain management. He listens carefully and thoroughly examines all three pain generators – neurological, orthopedic, and soft tissue – so that he can accurately identify the source of the pain and eliminate it with a program customized to each individual. His practice has an emphasis on injuries to the cervical, thoracic, lumbar regions and peripheral nerves.
Born into a middle-class family in Chicago, Illinois in 1950, Dr. Trobiani became intrigued equally by medical science and literature from an early age. He majored in biology but minored in English literature and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University in 1972. He obtained his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 1976 and served his internship at St. Louis University from 1976 to 1977. He then served as a general medical officer in the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1980, attached initially to an armored cavalry squadron as a squadron surgeon before being assigned command of the 24th medical detachment in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Upon leaving the military, he decided to specialize in neurology and was accepted for residency training at Yale University. He trained at Yale from 1980-1983 and served as the chief resident for the neurology service during his last year.
A member of the American Academy of Neurology, the doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
Attributing his success to being stubborn and tenacious, Dr. Trobiani wrote a book titled “Sustainable Healthcare Reform: Harnessing the Power of Capitalism to Fund Our Social Needs.” It is about bringing the stakeholders–employers, healthcare professionals, and healthcare consumers–together. It is about utilizing the combined strength of their voices to bring about positive change to the policies governing healthcare to the benefit of the stakeholders.
