Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Patrick Martyka, who serves patients in Florida.

Dr. Martyka is a board-certified podiatrist who joined Associates in Medicine & Surgery in 2019. He practices out of the offices in Port Charlotte and East Fort Myers, Florida. 

Providing the highest level of clinical excellence and compassion throughout Southwest Florida, Associates in Medicine & Surgery is a group of dedicated physicians specializing in ankle and foot care, internal medicine, and adult family practice. They strive daily to deliver top quality care to the community with office locations in Cape Coral, Estero, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Port Charlotte, Labelle, Bonita Springs, and Naples. Their focus is on eliminating pain, managing overall health, and guiding patients to a pain free, and healthier lifestyle.

Holding associate degrees in Applied Science & Emergency Medical Services as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science & Biotechnology from Florida Atlantic University, Dr. Martyka went on to attend podiatry school. He graduated with his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine, having served multiple terms as president of the SALSAL (Save a Limb, Save a Life) organization, regularly lecturing at local hospitals, and having participated in research involving diabetic amputation prevention as a podiatrist. 

He was the recipient of several accolades such as the American Podiatric Medical Association Scholarship, the Barry University Podiatry Academic Scholarship, as well as the Dr. Steinberg Limb Salvage Award. 

Following graduation, Dr. Martyka completed his podiatric medical and surgical residency as Chief Resident with reconstructive rear foot and ankle training at the Bruce W Carter Miami Veterans Affairs Hospital & the University of Miami. He received additional surgical training at the South Florida Institute of Sports Medicine and at Palm Beach Orthopedic Institute. 

Throughout his residency, Dr. Martyka received extensive training in lower extremity sports medicine, trauma management, diabetic foot care, wound care, limb salvage, and lower extremity reconstruction. He additionally conducted clinical research involving use of stem cell therapy in lower extremity injuries.

Continuing to advance the field of podiatry, he serves as Associate Faculty for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Fellowship training program, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (DABPM), and was honored to receive peer nomination to serve as Vice President of the Charlotte County Foot and Ankle Association. 

Among his other professional affiliations include membership status with the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Florida Podiatric Medical Association, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

A Site Director and Principal Investigator, Dr. Martyka conducts clinical research on lower extremity soft tissue reconstruction in partnership with innovative biotechnology companies. 

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of a variety of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.
