  • Is a dental bridge a good option for missing teeth?

Hello, While dental bridge is one option to replace a missing tooth you need to be aware of the limitations this presents. Depending on the type of bridge typically the adjacent teeth have to be prepared ( drilled and significantly reduced in size) to be able to support the prosthesis. If these teeth are intact bridge would not be a good option as the overall goal is to minimize loss of tooth structure. Happy and healthy teeth are the ones with less dental work on them! Replacing missing teeth with implants is much more predictable and longer lasting option. Considering your age I suggest you explore this option and discuss it with your dentist. Keep in mind every case is different and requires a thorough assessment of the patient general and dental health, bite and habits. Hope this helps! READ MORE

  • How can you tell if you have a deep cavity?

Hi there, This is a difficult question to answer as deep cavities can present various symptoms ranging from sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet, biting or simply spontaneous pain as well as no symptoms at all. My advice to you is to get a dental check up if you think something is wrong. It is best to address this soon and treat it before it gets worse. READ MORE

  • Which is better Emax or zirconia?

Hi there, Generally speaking Emax crowns perform better when done correctly as they are bonded to the tooth and usually do not require extensive tooth reduction. However in some cases zirconia crowns may be the better option. It all depends on the tooth condition and bite. I suggest you find a dentist who is trained in biomimetic dentistry and discuss which material is better for your case. READ MORE

  • Do all dentists provide anesthesiology for nervous patients?

Hi there, Dental phobia is quite popular and rest assured you are not alone in this. My suggestion to you is to look up an office trained in sedation dentistry and schedule appointment to meet the dentist. It is very important that you feel comfortable and meet the team to discuss your dental needs and determine the type of sedation you'll be comfortable with. Usually the first appointment is not invasive so rest assure you are in charge. Typically you'll meet the dentist to talk first and get to know each other. Then some xrays can be taken to be able to set up a treatment plan. Cleaning is not usually done at this appointment, so don't worry. Look up SedationCare.com to find an office close to you. Good Luck! READ MORE

  • Would I need to take opioids after my extraction?

Pain management after wisdom teeth removal varies depending on each case. If you are concerned you need to discuss this with your surgeon. You can avoid taking opioids and manage with Ibuprofen and Extra Strength Tylenol. It all depends on how complicated the procedure is, your pain tolerance and how the extraction is carried out under sedation or not. Even if you need to use some stronger pain killers such as opioids it is a very short term and risk of dependancy is very low unless you have history of addictions. Hope this answers your question. • Can teeth grinding cause headaches?

Teeth grinding or bruxism can sometime be a cause for headaches. If your husband is hearing you grinding your teeth it means you can use a night guard . It is an appliance you use at night to protect your teeth from the frictional damage to enamel and teeth from grinding. If this helps your headaches then you know what the cause is. If you also snore at night maybe you should consider going to a sleep clinic and check to see if you have sleep apnea. It can be a contributing factor to teeth grinding. READ MORE

  • Does brushing with salt help remove yellow stains from the teeth?

Congratulations on quitting smoking! Great job! I would not recommend brushing with salt as it is pretty abrasive and can damage the enamel of your teeth. I would suggest to treat yourself for kicking the habit and consult a dentist on professional teeth whitening customized specially for your needs. It is always recommended to have teeth cleaning prior to that so that you can remove plaque and achieve better results. READ MORE

  • My molars are hurting. I already had my wisdom teeth all taken out. What can this be?

Flossing should not be painful regardless of having wisdom teeth removed or still present. There could be numerous reasons for this discomfort. My recommendation is to see your dentist and have a checkup, which will likely include taking X-rays to properly diagnose. READ MORE

  • What should I do for my chipped tooth?

There are numerous ways to repair chipped tooth depending on type of fracture and tooth condition or position in the mouth. If you are experiencing pain, I would suggest to seek help as soon as possible. If you are not in any discomfort, it is still a good idea to follow up with a dentist and assess the tooth. Treatment for this type of trauma may vary from simple polishing of the area, repairing tooth with a composite (filling) material to more complex procedures such as onlay or crown restorations. • Can brushing my teeth with salt whiten my teeth?

I would not recommend doing this as salt is very abrasive and it can cause irreversible damage to the enamel of your teeth. There are better options to whiten teeth and every case is specific. I suggest to talk to your dentist and find out what would work best for you. READ MORE
