Dr. Avendano obtained his medical degree in 1983 at The University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in the Philippines. He completed the interventional cardiology residency program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and the internal medicine and cardiovascular disease residency programs at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He underwent a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Avendano maintains professional society memberships with the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, the Reserve Officers Association, the Union Square Academy for Health Sciences, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Society for Neuroscience, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Avendano has more than 20 years� experience of being a physician. He has published and collaborated with numerous physicians/scientists. Additionally, he engages in local teachings at various hospitals, including St. Peter's Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
