Professionally, he is also affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in the local area, including Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Carroll Hospital in Westminster, and the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus.

A 1975 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Dr. Konits went on to complete his internship and residency at Rochester General Hospital in 1976 and 1978, respectively. He completed his fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in 1981. 

Following his education, the doctor became board-certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Renowned for his expertise in the field of oncology, Dr. Konits is the recipient of the Physicians Recognition Award For Continuing Medical Education by the American Medical Association (1978) and the Distinguished Service Award by the American Cancer Society- Maryland Chapter (1981), among others.
