Get to know Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Yurilka Hernandez, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

Yurilka is a licensed clinical social worker currently serving patients at her private practice, Psychotherapy Today. Based in New York, she guides patients through life’s most complex and difficult matters. She truly cares about each client’s wellbeing and guarantees top-of-the-line counseling and psychotherapy services catered to their needs.

“Therapy is such a personal journey. As a therapist, I believe that therapy should be alive and engaging. I pride myself on offering a space where therapy is a tool for us to connect and for me to be able to relate to you. The old school model may not work for you; I have experience with old model and new model psychoanalytic approaches” expressed Yurilka.

Throughout her academic career, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from the City University of New York Herbert H. Lehman College in 2014. She then went on to complete her Master of Science degree in Clinical/Medical Social Work and her Postgraduate degree in Executive Leadership for Non-Profit at the New York University in 2015 and 2020, respectively.

Social work is an academic discipline and profession that concerns itself with individuals, families, groups, and communities in an effort to enhance social functioning and overall well-being. A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) works with patients in order to help them deal with issues involving mental and emotional health. There are a wide variety of specializations the LCSW can focus on, including mental health issues, substance abuse, public health, school social work, medical social work, marriage counseling or children and family therapy.
