Gordon L. Fung, MD, MPH, PhD, is a cardiologist, and expert in the treatment of heart disease with a special interest in cardiac rehabilitation, cardiovascular pharmacology, echocardiography and preventive cardiology. Working at University of California, San Francisco Medical Center at Mount Zion, he is director of the Cardiology Consultation Service, the Cardiac Noninvasive Laboratory and the Enhanced External Counterpulsation Unit. Dr. Fung's research explores advances in preventive cardiology and end stage heart disease. He earned a Master Degree in public health in hospital economics and administration at the University of California, Berkeley and a medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed an internal medicine residency and was chief resident at Highland General Hospital in Oakland. He completed a cardiology fellowship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Martinez, California. He has been active in the activities of the American Heart Association and has served on the association's national board of directors. Furthermore, Dr. Fung is an associate clinical professor of medicine and cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco.
