At the start of her academic career, Dr. Pakour graduated with her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Damascus University in Syria in 1988. After relocating to the United States, she performed her residency in pediatrics at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science/UCLA in California in 2003.

Subsequent to her education, she attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The ABP exists to promote excellence in medical care for children and adolescents. Certification represents dedication by pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, and pediatric trainees to the highest level of professionalism in patient care.
