What do you attribute your success to?
My Mother has always been in inspiration for me -- she showed me that regardless of the situation you are in, you are able to achieve any goal you set for yourself as long as want it enough to be willing to work for it. She also showed me that anything worth having is worth working toward. She showed me that you do not need to be wealthy to have a wonderful life, and all you need is to love life and live it to the fullest. She taught me the importance of family, heritage, culture, diversity, respect for others, respect for one\'s self, and no matter where someone is geographically that they have their loved ones in their heart with them any and everywhere. She taught me the importance of faith and courage along with not giving up if something seems challenging because it is through the most adverse times that we become our strongest and learn the most. She showed me the importance of education lifelongand to never let someone else\'s preconceived notions limit myself. She is a strong, amazing woman who I am extremely grateful to be able to call Mom. She got her strong will and passion from both her parents but got more of her sassiness and spunk from her Mom and the stubbornness to never give up from her Dad, which combined to make the great woman I am inspired by on a daily basis.

I enjoy teaching patients about their health as well as learning myself. I also teach providers in training (medical students, residents, nurse practitioner students, and physician assistant students). I have led continuing medical education talks about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as well as talks about Health Literacy, both of which are very dear and close to my heart.
