What do you attribute your success to?

  • God's grace, intentional living, seeking advice, and a desire to help others.

Areas of research

  •  Dr Shalhub's overarching research goal is to personalize health care for patients suffering from genetically triggered vascular conditions associated with aortic/arterial dissections and aneurysms, and improve success of surgical repair and long term survival for these patients. Currently, she is investigating the effect of gene mutations on vascular disease by utilizing a collaborative multidisciplinary approach combining genetics and surgical outcomes with a focus on descending thoracic aortic dissections. She was recently awarded a grant by the EDS Network C.A.R.E.S. Foundation to establish a national registry for Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Philanthropic Initiatives

  • I believe that we all have the responsibility to shape our future. This includes being engaged in my community locally as well as globally to actively improve the life of others. My volunteer time is targeted to addressing health care delivery inequity, access to education, mentorship and creating opportunities for success for the next generation.
