Boyd E. Metzger, MD, is an established endocrinologist currently serving as Professor Emeritus of Medicine (Endocrinology) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. His interests include regulation of fuel metabolism, hypoglycemic disorders, nutrition and metabolism in pregnancy, diabetes and pregnancy, gestational diabetes mellitus, diabetes mellitus, and thyroid disease. Dr. Metzger received his medical degree at the State University of Iowa (1959), interned at Michael Reese Medical Center (1960), served his residency at Michael Reese Medical Center (1963), and completed his postdoctoral fellowship in biochemistry at Washington University (1966). Dr. Metzger is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Diabetes Association.
