  • Regarding endoscopy?

No, they are not generally malignant cancer. But nothing cancerous growth is different. Doctors have a tough time using the word cancer being it’s not a bad kind or a good kind because the word cancer is the magic word that scares people. Hepatomegaly is something that I would be more concerned about to ensure it’s not NASH. Thank you for asking, make sure that your doctor is checking all the information necessary to make sure that it’s not what I described. That’s far more dangerous than a benign polyp. READ MORE

  • The opinions of doctors and medical researchers on the effectiveness of treating patients with ventilators?

Let me start by congratulating you on the steps that you’ve taken and the insightfulness in your questions. Let’s see if we can go through them one at a time and not be labor certain issues. 1. Yes in a certain subset of population. 2. Being on a ventilator extended course of treatment can lead to a tracheostomy as a necessity and voicebox vocal cord issues and difficulty getting them off the vent to later on to the next form of oxygen supplementation. 3. The treatment of respiratory/pulmonary diseases has continued to improve expand and get better over time. Therefore, I do believe that will be the case and ventilators will be reserved for certain subset of populations and or critically ill individuals who need the ATP‘s elsewhere and let the ventilator do the breathing while your body is doing the healing. 4. I believe the question in itself explains the answer. Smoking, smog in urban congestion, obesity, diabetes, asbestos, the list goes on and on so yes, I do believe that lifestyle choices do play apart, significantly, in respiratory ailments. 5. That’s very open ended therefore I will try to be as close to specific as I can. Do I believe that politics should be in medicine? Answer no. Do I believe that it is up to the medical community in order for the betterment of the general population and people as a whole in order to advance the technology along those lines? Yes. Do I think that big pharmaceutical companies and healthcare organizations associations and insurances are and should be a part of that process? Answer absolutely. Publicly funded tax related and that regard? No. Great insightful questions, I hope that I was of assistance, and I hope that you do well and provide great service to those that you care for. Thank you for asking me and I hope my answers helped. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Trouble with eating and digestion?

You are describing a term called arrow fee check. That means that you are being air and becoming bloated from gas, air, that’s resulting in the bloating. If you are having issues with passing bowel movements or vomiting that could be something of significance. If you have was called early satiety, meaning the feeling of fullness and unable to eat with very small amounts of food, that could be a blockage and or an upper G.I. issue which would very easily be resolved with either a timed barium swallow or an upper endoscopy. Long and short, see your gastroenterologist discuss your symptoms and make sure that it’s nothing ominous. And I’ll give you peace of mind as well as feeling well. Thank you for your question and I hope I was of assistance and I wish you well. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • What is happening?

It’s time to see a gynecologist and get a specialist, the gynecologist I’m talking about, to get a better assessment and evaluation. Also bloodwork would be a good idea and see what’s going on. And your menstrual history is important in reference to the timing of what’s going on medication symptoms as well. So I would book myself an appointment with the gynecologist as soon as possible because a walk in clinic and or an ER, are there for emergency purposes and do all the things necessary, the specialist spent that many more years in training and school in order to be calm specialized and experts and those fields. It’s time for you to see an expert Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Changes in my bathroom habits?

I agree the constellation of symptoms that you describe are very difficult in order to put into one diagnoses currently. A thorough and detailed history physical examination is of the upmost importance. Also knowing that you have an IUD makes it even more important to ensure its proper placement, I thought infected, did not cause a perforation, and any other symptoms that you’re describing. Please follow up with your primary care physician or your gynecologist or a walk-in/urgent care/ER for better examination detail and history. Sorry I could not have been any more of a help other than what I mentioned, I wish you well, and thank you for asking me . Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Average testosterone levels of someone in their 20s?

It’s nice to see that you did your homework on testosterone levels and age related testosterone levels. Because you’re in your early 20s your testosterone level is much higher than someone say 50 or 60. Because as you get older, they drop. Your testosterone level is well within the normal range, well within acceptable range, and I’m nothing to be concerned about. Do not take any exogenous testosterone or supplements or anything that would either boost and or hinder its production. Keep doing what you’re doing and stay healthy. Thank you for asking. • Cloudy urine?

Your cloudy urine sounds more like muscle breakdown and dehydration and an STD. With that being said a very simple urinalysis and urine culture with your primary care provider and or add an urgent care center will alleviate and illuminate all your questions and concerns right from there. Based on your description, STD would not be the top of my list. I would be testing for it to make sure that I am complete and thorough, yet would not be the top of my differential diagnosis. Please get he your analysis or urine dip as well it’s called sometimes, urine culture and you’ll know the answer in a very short period of time. Thank you for asking me and I hope you feel better and that I was assistance to you. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Why do I have a migraine?

To directly associate a migraine and a Covid positive test is a bit more than a stretch. And or having migraines as the soul sign of coronavirus positivity and or infection is just as equally far-fetched. There are more questions that I would ask before I can give you a valid answer. But how do you know that they are migraines, not tension headaches, not sinus headaches, not cluster headaches? A headache is not just a headache. Speak with your provider about your symptoms get a good valid complete and thorough examination, necessary bloodwork and or imaging as needed. Thank you for asking me, best wishes and luck and I hope you feel better. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • I am having headaches?

There’s more than one type of headache, therefore, it would start with multiple type of questions to kind of narrow down the type of headache that you’re having and potentially what you either have put into your diet and or remove from your diet which might have resulted in an exacerbation and more of a continuation of your headache. Do you have a sinus headache, cluster headache, tension headache, migraine headache, and there’s many more along the list. Therefore, it would be in your best interest to speak with your primary care physician about the specifics of the type of headache that you’re having and if you need any imaging lab work and or other types of treatment. There is no panacea for headache. Depending on what type you have is depending on treatment or lack there of, etc. I hope you understand, I wish you well, I for one can tell you a headache is pretty miserable and I understand and can get your frustration. Your best bet is through your primary and onto a neurologist if your primary is unable to work it out. Thank you for asking and I wish you nothing but health happiness.  READ MORE

  • What is the best treatment for child who has runny nose?

It depends on the age of the child, any comorbid illnesses, and/or medications he or she is taking. My suggestion would be to try Zyrtec at night 10 mg once a day, some nasal saline will help with the symptoms and relief and you can use Afrin nasal spray for up to 3 to 5 days once again for symptomatic relief. Check for fever, swollen glands, latitude, things that would describe to you that it’s more than what it is. And that’s where a quick influenza swab test will come in and save a lot of time before you get a coronavirus test. Be well, thank you for asking me the question. I wish you and your child well. • Low lymphocytes?

Neutrophils that are elevated or associated, for the most part, and a huge infective process. Lol leukocytes would mean that the cells that make your immunoglobulins are on the lower end and not responding to an acute infected process. Normally associated with a bacterial infection. I would need further information about your bloodwork your total white cell count the rest of your complete blood count and any symptoms you may have in order to fully explain those results. Speaking with your provider who ordered those tests would be best and possibly even a referral to a hematologist/oncologist in order to understand why you have abnormal complete blood count/white blood count results. As a 28-year-old female, the first thing that would come to my mind is a type of urinary tract infection. But you mention no such thing. Please speak with your provider to get an understanding as to why and keep a copy of all your results for yourself, and others that may need to know, in a file at your home so you can follow its trend. Either up, down, or normalization. Thank you for asking me and I hope I was of assistance. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Breathing question?

No, I would not consider that normal. You should see a pulmonologist to make sure that you don’t have apnea. What your total volume is. A pulmonary function test. And that goes without saying a chest X-ray to start off with. And then work your way from there. But to answer your question very simply, small, rapid, shallow breathing with feeling the need to be conscious and make sure that you breathe in something that is autonomic is not normal. Best of luck. Wish you well, hope all is well. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • When should I get a booster shot for Covid?

My best and safest answer is to go to the cdc.gov or its cdc.org website about your particular conditions, age, and comorbid conditions and whether antibody testing is appropriate or not. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Brown recluse bite?

Those are potential signs and symptoms of a brown recluse spider bite. Yet the color induration, etc., is not. The cars a helmet cause toxic epidermal neck roll issue and that doesn’t look like that. Essentially, the skin gets eaten away and a hole is left. So that doesn’t look like that. It looks like yourself a good night and you might have a secondary infection from him. I would talk to your provider and then treat it if antibiotics are appropriate, which I would assume they stop it looking like that. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Premature ejaculation?

No. Don’t be concerned about it. I’d be more concerned with inability to have a hard on (limp biscuit), than your concern. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • High cholesterol?

You are a result forgiven in millimoles per liter. Not really all that difficult to translate, yet the results are as such: your total cholesterol is elevated and needs to be lowered; your HDL cholesterol, the good kind, is below normal, so it’s not cardio protective. Your LDL is elevated and your triglyceride levels are above normal. Your total cholesterol panel is off and not in the best way. Speak with your provider about your weight, body mass index, types of foods that you’re eating, activity level, and things that you can do to reduce your cardiovascular risk factors. It also would not be a bad idea to find out about a family history of cardiovascular disease, hyperlipidemia, etc. If the numbers do not improve in a short period of time, you’re going to need to be on a lipid-lowering agent. If you’re already on one, the dose needs to be upped, or the type needs to be changed. Thank you for asking me, and I hope that I was of assistance Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Covid booster shot?

No it will not. As a sidebar, get yourself clean, do everything that you can to stay away from cocaine crack and any other illegal substance. You’ll feel a whole lot better about yourself and the things that you’re doing if you do. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and I wish you well. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Painful testicle?

Go to the emergency department, primary care physician, urgent care, or a urologist to make sure there’s no torsion of the testicle. And examination ultrasound will do that and give quite a bit of information. Thank you for asking and I wish you and your husband well and safe, holiday season Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Possible asbestos related issues?

Thank you for the detailed information that you gave, but I would have more questions than answers for you. I’m not in the Pittsburgh area, I’m in toms River New Jersey, but with Pittsburgh being a major city there are probably some very good hospitals out there. I would concern myself with something other than asbestos although I would not be off my list until otherwise. You described having nodules removed, what were the results of them, what were they, how many one side, both sides, lymph nodes, the list goes on? So it’s really best to discuss this with a pulmonologist your primary care physician and get some serious medical imaging done and a provider that you can continue to work with and or providers that will work in concert together. I wish you well and thank you for your question . Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE
