  • Pulmonary embolism?

Ibuprofen would have no effect whatsoever. Aspirin would prevent further platelet aggregation causing more of a clot. Other than that, it would have no therapeutic effect. Do you need much stronger medication a pulmonologist, a VQ scan, even an MRI or a chest CT or angiogram or a combination of them all in order to delineate the pulmonary embolism size, and a multitude of others? It’s best suited to speak with your pulmonary doctor about the most appropriate course of action. Indeed, blood thinners such as heparin, warfarin, etc. Thank you for asking me. I pray for your health. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Omicron vaccine/Covid-19?

It’s not something that most providers will tell you, but the vaccine is not something that I would advocate for. Guillain-Barré is a side effect of the vaccine, which you’ve already had. You can get antibody testing to see what your antibody levels are and what would be if any at all is the right type of vaccination for you. Until then, very hygienic practices, and 95 mask, and stay at least 6 feet away from anybody that you have any question about or don’t know. I wish I had better advice for you, but that is the best at this particular point in time as what we know. Or at least what the public is being provided with. Thank you for asking me for your question and I wish you well, if you have any further questions please feel free to ask. Merry Christmas happy holidays Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • I just need some suggestions on what I can do?

Are you referring to one leg or both? If you are furring to both is one more than the other? From your legs, that would go back to the lower part of your spine and a simple way is to get an X-ray, the next would be an MRI, a nerve conduction study, or an EMG, depending on your provider and what is found on each one of those studies. Also, a basic chemistry panel to make sure there is not a cause that’s resulting in it that is treatable, i.e., calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium. And the list can go on. I would contact your provider to see what you need to do first and in what order. I wish you well, and thank you for asking me for your assistance Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Lump in testicle?

And ultrasound would be a very easy and safe way to diagnose if the lump is fluid filled or solid. Based on the findings, it is based on what we need to be done. Your best bet is to contact your primary care physician, urologist if you already have one, or you can also go to an ER clinic and get an ultrasound done while there. The first two are probably better options because you don’t want to necessarily have to go to the emergency department unless it’s essential and you’re unable to reach your providers. Thank you for asking. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Chronic hypoglycemia?

Have your pancreatic endocrine function tested (insiulinoma) as well as a complete blood chemistry, cbc/d, tsh, liver function test, urinalysis, and a thorough physical exam. Lastly, it’s important to know if you are taking insulin (not prescribed for you). It’s a quite common cause of it. Thank you for asking me and I hope all works well for you. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Drug analysis?

Both Vyvance and Adderall are amphetamines. If your drug test came up positive for amphetamines, yes. Also, Vyvance is considered a pro drug, which means it gets converted into essentially the same thing as Adderall. So, if you’ve been on by Vyvance and it comes up positive for Adderall, amphetamine, the answer is yes. I would ensure that my prescriber is aware that Adderall is coming up in your drug test. It does not make it a dirty test, it actually makes it a confirmatory test that you’re taking your medication. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • STD exposure?

As a male, it’s much easier to diagnose. You have one tube for two functions. Women have two tubes for two functions. So their infection can be hidden longer than through a male. Therefore if you’ve been on Levaquin, for as many days as you described, and do not have any symptoms that would be suggest above such my answer would be is that you are clear of it. And continue to make sure you wear a condom. I’m not gonna pontificate about it, but wearing a condom is appropriate for many reasons. Thank you for your question and I hope I was of help. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • COVID-19 test results?

The only way that I would be able to give you a professional the appropriate answer would be or are there other parts of the results that were given? Examples would be: antibodies, IgG, AGM, and a GEN, viral load, abnormal white cell count, and a multitude of others truthfully. So to answer it with accuracy validity and scientifically, I would need more information. Sorry I’m not as much of help as I could but maybe this is what you can ask your providers to give you information on so they can explain it to you. Thank you and good luck and God bless Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Foot drop?

Yes, it can. The question that I would ask is, why do you have bilateral peroneal nerve issues resulting in foot drop? Is it something higher up in the lower spinal cord? I would speak with the orthopedist who is treating your foot drop for its cars and why and how long you can expect for it to get better. Thank you for asking me and I wish you well. • Senior in Nursing Home Diagnosed Pneumonia 9/3/21 - Still Struggling?

I would demand that I get taken to the emergency department and admitted in the hospital so the entire process can be sped up. If you’re talking about an ammonia since September, and we’re in the month of December now, it means you don’t have the right type of antibiotics, it’s not a pneumonia, or a combination of many other things. Do what you can to get yourself to the emergency department so you can be fully screened tested and monitored closer than you currently are. Good luck and I wish you well. • HPV Vaccine - unsure if previously vaccinated?

It would not to answer your question shortly. But what can be done is an HPV antibody titer to see if you have protective immunity from a previous vaccination. If you do, then you don’t need to be vaccinated, if you don’t then I would highly recommend it. Thank you for asking me, and I wish you nothing but health wellness and happiness. • Testicle problem?

First thing is that both your testicles are an always the same size, and one will sit in front of the other so you can walk without being bowlegged (that was meant to be a joke but real). Having a hydrocele drained is not going to change the effectiveness and or productivity of that particular testicle. If it does he still have another functional one. It would not be something I’ve any great concern other than to make sure that urologist keeps an eye on it so there is no malignant transformations far down the road as you get older. Which is very slim to make sure you’re aware. I wish you well, thank you for asking me for your question. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Hemoglobin level is low?

I’m sure you are referred to the hematologist/oncologist for a better and detailed evaluation of why the hemoglobin is low. There’s multiple other labs that would need to be drawn for me to come to any degree of a conclusion about what to and or not to expect. Simply put, blood tests are in order, and it would not surprise me in the least if they want to do a bone marrow biopsy in order to make sure that the blood is being made and not being lost or being broken down because of another illness. It’s too early to start concerning and/or worrying about something that hasn’t taken place yet. Get all the data and do not be afraid to ask as many questions as you need in order for you to feel comfortable when you leave. I tell patients to bring a pen and paper with them so they can write things down so they can remember it when they get home. I wish you and your wife the best of luck and thank you for asking for my input. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • I'm worried about overcoming covid-19?

If you are truly that concerned, have had Covid for over a week, still feel symptomatic, and need to use oxygen I would strongly consider discussing this with my healthcare provider and possibly getting admitted into the hospital for closer observation in treatment. I wish you well and hope for the best. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Mixing meds?

I would not advocate for it for more than 3-5 days maximum together. It also has to do with any other medications that you may be taking. Always ask your provider to ensure that there are no side effects that you should be aware of. Thank you Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Accidental arterial injection?

  • Ringworm concern?

Grisiofvin (spelling off). Is the appropriate treatment for ringworm. You might want to get retested to make sure that it is ringworm and not something else. Because if conventional treatment has not worked as of yet it might not be ringworm, or it is something that is resistant to current treatment. Often on would not work as well as continuous treatment throughout. It does take a long time in order for ringworm to be treated but it is a very treatable illness. Please speak to your provider about this nor to see what he and/or she has to say about what is to do right and the appropriate medication and order to clear it for good. Also, you might want to check that you’re not re-utilizing the same thing as a potential he can be carrying the ringworm and re-infecting yourself on a regular basis. • Medicines and depression?

You will feel very ill and get admitted to a psychiatric hospital for attempted suicide. Please call 911 or get to the ER ASAP. God bless and please be safe. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Chronic constipation?

The fiber tablets you’re taking is a bulk laxative. Meaning that it is intended for solid stools. Do you need a laxative in order to move it through. I would speak with my gastroenterologist or my primary care physician about altering the fiber tablets and or adding a laxative that would be able to make it go to the bathroom as opposed to forming hardware stores only. I hope that helps and please contact your provider for further information. Be well Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE

  • Why am I not losing weight?

Nothing wrong. Consider: healthy food, exercise and restorative sleep are the cornerstones for being fit and healthy. You might want to discuss this with a trainer for focused core workouts. Best of luck to you and I hope I was able to assist. Be well, Brent Reinheimer, MD READ MORE
