Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Stephen Brown, who serves patients in Reno, Nevada.

Well-versed in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation, Dr. Brown is in practice with Sierra Nevada Rehab, an affiliate of Saint Mary’s Health Network.

As a long-standing community partner with a 112-year history, Saint Mary’s Health Network offers Northern Nevada inpatient, outpatient, ancillary, and wellness services. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Brown graduated with his medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas, and completed his internship at the same educational venue. He then went on to complete his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Nevada Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Graduate Hospital.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

As a testament of his dedication, Dr. Brown has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award in 2018.
