Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Andrea M. Tomassoni, who serves patients in Pennsylvania.

Being a caring and compassionate obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Tomassoni specializes in women’s health, particularly the female reproductive system, pregnancy, and childbirth. She practices at Commonwealth Health Physician Network-Scranton and Commonwealth Health Physician Network-Old Forge.

Professionally, Dr. Tomassoni also serves as a staff physician at Moses Taylor Hospital, a 214-bed, acute care hospital with more than 400 physicians on staff and a commitment to providing quality health care that is patient and community-focused.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Lackawanna County Medical Society.

Back in 1996, Dr. Tomassoni earned her medical degree from the Penn State College of Medicine. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2000, where she served as the administrative chief resident.

Before long, she became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health. 

Recognized as an expert in her field of practice, Dr. Tomassoni is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Award – 5 Year Honoree (2015), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2015, 2016, 2017), Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), and Top 10 Doctor – City (2014).
