She received her doctorate of medicine in 1999 at The University of Alabama School of Medicine and trained at Baptist Health. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and was honored with the Diabetes Recognition Program Award (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017), Patients' Choice Award (2008, 2009), On-Time Doctor Award (2009), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2009, 2010), and America's Most Compassionate Physician Award- 2012. Dr. Illescas also received the National Committee for Quality Assurance Certification for Excellence in Superior Diabetes Care. She links her success to genuinely caring for each of her patients and being readily available to them. She is also affiliated with Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, Alabama.
