Get to know Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Ramzi Deeik, who serves patients in Santa Rosa, California.

A highly trained and experienced cardiac surgeon, Dr. Deeik is the Division Chief and Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He is committed to excellence in the practice of heart surgery in Sonoma County and the rest of the Northern California Bay Area. 

Offering compassionate care for each and every patient with the most current technology and techniques, Dr. Deeik is a leader in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and many other complex procedures including coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair and replacement surgery, treatment of atrial fibrillation, trans catheter aortic valve replacement and much more. He performs over 95% of bypass procedures off-pump, whereas only 20% of CABG procedures in the United States are performed off-pump on average. 

A 1995 graduate of the Creighton University School of Medicine, Dr. Deeik completed his residency in surgery at the Northwestern university McGaw Medical Center in 2000, and a fellowship in thoracic surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in 2002.

Double Board-certified in Surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Deeik is a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.

Furthermore, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Cardiac surgery, or cardiovascular surgery, is surgery on the heart or great vessels performed by cardiac surgeons. A cardiac surgeon is a medical doctor who performs surgery on the heart and the major blood vessels around it. There are several different medical specialties that a cardiac surgeon may fall under, some of which have overlapping areas of focus.
