Dr. Patel, Chief of Vascular Surgery and Medical Director of the Wound Healing Center at St. John’s Riverside Hospital, has helped to build one of the foremost vascular and wound healing centers in the area that include all the cutting-edge technology that any big city hospital has, including both open and minimally invasive technologies and procedures. He and his team are prepared with an average of 20+ years of experience each to take on the toughest vascular and wound healing cases.

For more than 150 years St. John’s Riverside Hospital has strived to thoroughly fulfill its commitment to the residents of the City of Yonkers and southern Westchester, continuing a tradition of providing multi-generational care to families. The Wound Healing Center consists of a multidisciplinary team of health professionals who work collaboratively to ensure that patients with non-healing wounds and wound prone conditions receive the most comprehensive evaluation and treatment. This includes patients with wounds resulting from poor circulation as in peripheral vascular disease, chronic venous insufficiency, diabetes with neuropathy, pressure due to immobility, or other wounds that are slow to heal.

In his current capacity, Dr. Patel performs both open and endovascular procedures, including endovenous laser therapy for varicose veins. He has handled the most complex cases involving varicose veins, spider veins, and peripheral arterial disease, as well as has published several articles.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Surgery, which is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery.

After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Patel went on to complete his residency at Wyckoff Heights Hospital. This was followed by a fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center.

Prior to his current endeavors, he served as a vascular and endovascular surgeon with Westchester Surgical Specialists.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.

Outside of the office, Dr. Patel enjoys traveling and playing golf.
