Get to know Periodontist Dr. Kathy Chahine, who serves the population of California. Dr. Chahine graduated wither her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree with the University of Western Ontario in 2005, giving her over a decade of experience in her field. Furthering her education she completed her Master of Science with a focus on periodontics with the University of Detroit Mercy. Dr. Chahine is certified by the American Board of Periodontology. To stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the American Academy of Periodontology, California Dental Association, and Canadian Dental Association. She has also been inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. She currently practices as a Periodontist with Hakim Dentistry. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Detroit Mercy. She attributes her professional success to loving what she does and giving the best care to her patients. When she is not working she enjoys traveling, kayaking, rafting, hiking, being outdoors. A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. They are also experts in the treatment of oral inflammation. Periodontists receive extensive training in these areas, including three additional years of education beyond dental school. They are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease, and are also trained in performing cosmetic periodontal procedures.
