Dr. Michael Whalen is an experienced and acclaimed Urologist whose practice focuses on the treatment of genitourinary malignancies. He has quickly become renowned for his clinical and surgical skills, as well as his earnest dedication to superlative patient care. His medical career began when he graduated from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. After an internship and residency in Urology at the Columbia University Medical Center, he completed fellowships in Robotic and Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and in Urologic Oncology at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Dr. Whalen is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is an elected member of the Society of Urologic Oncology. He has become renowned across the District of Columbia and beyond for his expertise in the surgical management of high-risk genitourinary cancer patients and in the use of robotic-assisted surgery with the DaVinci robotic platform. Conditions treated by him include bladder cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, adrenal cancer, testicular cancer, and ureteral cancer. He has integrated the growing arsenal of genomic predictive tools and biomarkers into his clinical practice to bring the cutting edge of Precision and Personalized medicine to his patients.
