Get to know Optometrist Dr. Jeffrey G. DePaola, who serves patients in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Dr. DePaola is an optometrist working at Toll Gate Vision in Warwick, Rhode Island. He offers full vision examinations and will diagnose and treat an array of eye diseases and conditions to keep eyes healthy.

Whether it’s a general eye exam or treating a condition that requires an in depth diagnosis, he and his colleagues provide undivided attention to each patient so they can evaluate a plan based on individual needs and their professional opinion. They work together to ensure that each patient’s vision is comfortable and completed in a timely manner. 

A native of North Haven, Connecticut, Dr. DePaola graduated with his bachelor’s degree in biology from Central Connecticut State University. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University. There, he graduated with honors and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an international optometry honor society, for all four years of his optometric training. 

Following his training, he attained board certification in optometry through the American Board of Optometry. The Board’s mission is to advance the quality of eye care by promoting excellence through education, assessment, practice and professionalism, for the benefit of all patients.

Specializing in vision care, Dr. DePaola is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Rhode Island Optometric Association.

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.

In his personal life, Dr. DePaola resides in Warwick with his long time girlfriend and their dog, enjoying their free time exploring Rhode Island and its beautiful coasts.
