Get to know Burn, Trauma, and Critical Care Surgeon Dr. Nicole Kopari, who serves patients in Fresno, California.

Dr. Kopari is a burn, trauma, and critical care surgeon with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Fresno, where she also serves as an Associate Clinical Professor within the Department of Surgery. Her professional interests include teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, burn resuscitation, quality improvement, and overall patient outcomes, along with physician burnout.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Kopari earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her residency in general surgery at Michigan State University. She then went on to complete a burn fellowship at the University of Washington, Harborview Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Texas-Memorial Hermann Houston.

The doctor is board certified in surgical critical care and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

She is a member of many organizations, including the American Burn Association, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the American College of Surgeons. She is also a course instructor for ABLS, ATLS, and ASSET.

In her personal life, Dr. Kopari enjoys outdoor activities and is an avid sports enthusiast with special interests in football, basketball, and track. She competed at the Division 1 Level on a full-ride track scholarship. She spends her free time traveling, camping, fishing, and scuba diving.
