Dr. Raquel C. Jones, MD, RPVI is a vascular surgeon practicing in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Jones specializes in disorders relating to the arterial, venous and lymphatic systems. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Jones diagnoses and treats vascular diseases and performs vasular surgeries. Dr. Jones is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but left her southern roots to pursue her undergraduate studies.  She attended The Pennsylvania State University where she received her Bachelor of Science with a major in Science and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies.  She went on to obtain her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. During her time in medical school, she was very active with the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) and served on local, regional, and national boards. She served as chapter secretary, Assistant Regional Director, and co-chair of the Academic Affairs national committee.  Additionally, she was involved in liver and cardiac transplant research, for which she spent a summer in Palermo, Sicily and also presented research at the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation annual meeting. She was also the recipient of scholarships from the SNMA and the Gateway Medical Society in Pittsburgh, PA.  

 

Dr. Jones developed a passion for vascular surgery during her time in medical school and was accepted into a direct vascular surgery residency program upon graduation from medical school.  She completed her vascular surgery training at the University of Cincinnati and served as the administrative chief resident.  Dr. Jones is a board certified vascular surgeon and also has her registered physician in vascular interpretation (RPVI) certification.  She is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery.  She especially enjoys the complex nature of vascular surgery and the ability to treat patients with both endovascular and open surgical techniques, as well as, the long-term patient relationships that develop.
