Dr. Jed Calata is a member of the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He joins an accomplished team that includes Dr. Kirk Ludwig, Dr. Mary Otterson, Dr. Carrie Peterson, and Dr. Timothy Ridolfi.
Dr. Calata is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon with expertise in colorectal and minimally invasive surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, fecal incontinence and anorectal disorders. A graduate with honors from Saint Joseph's University, Dr. Calata went on to pursue his doctor of medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his general surgery residency training at the University of Illinois at Chicago Metropolitan Group Hospitals Residency and his colon and rectal surgical fellowship training at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County Fellowship.
With a passion for both science and service, this devoted physician enjoys all aspects of medicine - teaching, outreach, and improving the quality of life for patients and communities. Dr. Calata's service efforts have involved traveling to El Salvador, Dominican Republic and the villages around Rwanda to help improve health resources and nutrition. He has also been the recipient of multiple honors and awards, specifically for his role as an educator.
Dr. Calata is currently seeing patients at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center and at Froedtert Hospital and MCW. He strives to provide the highest quality care using sound surgical decision-making and the newest surgical techniques and technologies. When Dr. Calata is not caring for others, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and cheering for his favorite sports teams.
