Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Rian Shah, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

Dr. Shah is a triple board certified pulmonologist providing top-quality healthcare to the Bronx community in New York City, New York. He partners with NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest municipal healthcare system in the United States, and is affiliated with NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx.

In addition to his primary role, Dr. Shah holds academic positions as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Instructor of Pulmonary Elective at the New York Medical College, contributing to medical education. He also serves as a Peer Reviewer for Heart & Lung: The Journal of Cardiopulmonary and Acute Care, and is a dedicated staff physician within the Department of Pulmonary & Critical Care at the James J. Peters Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

With a diverse and impressive educational background, Dr. Shah obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University in 2010. His medical career continued to flourish as he earned his Medical Degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in 2014.

Dedicated to advancing his medical knowledge and skills, Dr. Shah completed his residency in internal medicine at Stony Brook Medicine/University Hospital in 2017. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at the same institution in 2020. 

Board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine, Dr. Shah is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Shah is an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society.
