Get to know Critical Care Pulmonologist Dr. Vikas Goyal, who serves patients in Decatur, Texas.

A triple board-certified critical care pulmonologist, Dr. Goyal sees patients at Wise Heart Care in Decatur, Texas.

Academically, Dr. Goyal received his Bachelor of Science degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas where he graduated cum laude, majoring in biochemistry and minoring in mathematics. He then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Sciences. Upon completion of his residency, he chose to remain in Virginia where he completed fellowships in both pulmonology and critical care medicine.

Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

On a professional level, Dr. Goyal maintains active membership status with the American Thoracic Society and the American Medical Association.

In the Texas area, he is affiliated with Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, Baylor University Medical Center, Baylor Scott and White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas, BSW Institute for Rehabilitation – Dallas, and BSW All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. Critical care pulmonologists are trained to provide care for pulmonary diseases and disorders such as respiratory failure, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and chronic bronchitis, among many other conditions affecting the respiratory system.
