Dr. Joseph DeMarco is a board certified interventional radiologist at Summit Health practicing in FLORHAM PARK, NJ.  He specializes in interventional oncology, performing noninvasive procedures without incisions under radiologic imaging guidance.  Many of the treatments Dr. DeMarco offers are outpatient procedures not requiring stitches.  Patients are home in a matter of hours after their procedure. There are many treatments that your interventional radiologist can offer you including:

 

  • Image guided needle biopsy
  • Port insertion for chemotherapy (no more weekly needle sticks)
  • Liver tumor embolization (microscopic beads with chemotherapy or radiation directly block blood supply to tumors causing them to shrink)
  • Tumor ablation including bone, liver, kidney, lung (needle melts away or freezes tumor)
  • Uterine fibroid embolization
  • Kyphoplasty (cement stabilization of spine compression fractures)
  • Sacroplasty (cement stabilization of sacral fractures)
  • Nerve cryoablation (longlasting pain relief by freezing painful nerves)
  • IVC filter insertion/retrieval (device prevents blood clots from traveling to lungs)
  • Feeding tube insertion/exchange (for those with malnutrition/unable to eat food)
  • Paracentesis (drainage of fluid from abdomen)
  • Thoracentesis (drainage of fluid from around lung)
  • Pleur-x catheter insertion (tube to drain reaccumulating fluid at home)
