Dr. Cordner completed his residency in Anesthesia at Monmouth Medical Center, is Board-Certified in Anesthesia, Pain Management and Interventional Pain Management and has been practicing in Sebastian and Vero Beach, Florida for over 25 years. Dr. Cordner is President of ASIPP and serves on the Executive Board of ASIPP. Dr. Cordner is on faculty as Associate Clinical Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine, and Board Examiner for ABIPP and WIP. He serves on the Board of Directors for ASIPP, FSIPP, is Past-President of FSIPP, and serves on the editorial board of “Pain Physician” and “Neuromodulation”. 

 

Dr. Cordner has published numerous articles, guidelines and chapters in several textbooks. He has presented hundreds of lectures and taught numerous course both nationally and internationally.  Dr. Cordner has a special interest in Neuromodulation as well as practice management.  

Pain medicine is concerned with the prevention of pain, and the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients experiencing pain. Pain medicine physicians use a broad-based approach to treat all pain disorders, ranging from pain as a symptom of disease to pain as the primary disease. Dr. Cordner serves as a consultant to other physicians but is often the principal treating physician, providing care at various levels; such as treating the patient directly, prescribing medication, prescribing rehabilitative services, performing pain relieving procedures, counseling patients and families, directing a multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, and providing consultative services.

A respected anesthesiologist & pain management specialist, Dr. Cordner has been practicing interventional pain management since 1994. He is the owner & operator of Florida Pain Management Associates in Sebastian, Florida, providing comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of all pain disorders. 

Alongside his clinical role, he serves on faculty as an Associate Clinical Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine.

Graduating with his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1987, Dr. Cordner went on to further his training. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in anesthesiology at Monmouth Medical Center.

With over twenty years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. 

Licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Dr. Cordner is affiliated with Sebastian River Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, and Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center.

A Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP), he is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine, the Society of Pain Practice Management, the International Neuromodulation Society, the International Spinal Injection Society, and numerous national and international pain societies. He is also the President-Elect of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP).

With a special interest in neuromodulation and practice management, Dr. Cordner serves on the Editorial Board of “Pain Physician” and “Neuromodulation”. He is a Board Examiner for World Institute of Pain, a certified worker’s compensation expert, as well as serves on the Board of Directors of ASIPP and the Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
